Being a proficient reader by the third grade is critical for lifelong success. PSD has set a goal that all
third-grade students will read at or above grade level by 2026.

To reach this visionary goal, we need YOU, our community. PSD is spearheading a new
community-wide initiative across the Gig Harbor and Key Peninsula communities.

We are looking for businesses, organizations, and individuals interested in helping host an event or be a part of this planning process.

Gig Harbor Tides Cheer is looking for mini cheerleaders!

You’re invited to perform at halftime with the Gig Harbor High School Cheerleaders!

Sign up for our mini cheer clinic, held on Monday, August 22, 2022. The clinic will teach participants motions, jumps, chants, and halftime choreography in preparation of our first football game of the season!

PSD to provide school supplies to K - 5 students

Back-to-school is approaching quickly! Our teachers and staff are very excited to see happy faces on the first day of school.

This year, the Peninsula School District is providing all the basic school supplies for our students in grades K-5. School supply lists are available for grades 6-12 on each school’s website.

The first day of school for grades 1-12 is Wednesday, Aug. 31. There is no school on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 5. The first day of Kindergarten begins on Tuesday, Sept. 6.

Have questions? Contact your school for more information.

We understand that many families need before or after school care for their child during the week, which is why PSD has worked to create many options for families in the 2022-2023 school year.

On-site child care is available for our elementary families and is provided by three partner programs.
